Register for the conference organised by the French Presidency of the EU at the EESC in Paris

In the framework of the French presidency of the Council of the European union, the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation will organise a high-level Conference on Civic Engagement in EU Missions the 21 March at the Conseil économique, social et environnemental, place Iéna in Paris. (8.30 to 18.00). This conference will take the form of plenary sessions, workshops and a civil society and research forum. In addition to ministers, it will bring together high-level experts and stakeholders in various fields, and will also be open to the public. This will allow stakeholders, citizens and politicians to come together to discuss tangible solutions to current challenges.

A workshop on Civic Engagement in the Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities Mission which will be held at 11.00 the same day. This workshop will bring togetherRosalinde van der Vlies and Matthew Baldwin from the European Commission, representatives from the cities of Budapest, Eindhoven, Rouen and Turku, the association 'Building in the future, living in the future', researchers and experts.

During this interactive workshop, stakeholders will identify challenges, generate ideas and propose concrete actions to encourage citizen engagement in the Mission. Participants should take into account citizens’ wishes and recommendations so that the development of low-carbon cities can be efficiently delivered by and for all. The participation of youth in the framework of this Mission will be a key issue, especially as 2022 is the European Year of Youth.
